Avant Assessment, together with its development partner, The Center for Applied Second Language Studies at the University of Oregon (CASLS), has developed an innovative suite of Web-based tools that are redefining the use of technology in language assessment.

STAMP

For educators, this groundbreaking assessment tool helps improve instruction and learning by delivering more reliable, valid language assessment data, in a timelier manner than has ever been possible before, while reducing overall costs and staff burden. STAMP is a computer-adaptive, Web-based assessment tool that measures and reports student proficiency with language according to Benchmark Levels 1 through 5 which are related to ACTFL Performance Guidelines at the novice to intermediate levels.

CLASSPAK

ClassPak is a web-based instructional tool designed for year-round use to assist teachers in creating a proficiency-oriented classroom. ClassPak provides a STAMP-like environment with realia-based content that teachers can build upon to deliver reading, writing, and speaking quizzes.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

NJ STAMP was a specific implementation of STAMP for the State of New Jersey to assess the progress eighth graders were making in learning other languages. This innovative 3-year program funded by a federal FLAP grant provided results that served as a baseline for the development of a statewide world languages assessment.
