Avant Assessment, together with its development partner, The Center for Applied Second Language Studies at the University of Oregon (CASLS), has developed an innovative suite of Web-based tools that are redefining the use of technology in language assessment.

STAMP

For educators, this groundbreaking assessment tool helps improve instruction and learning by delivering more reliable, valid language assessment data, in a timelier manner than has ever been possible before, while reducing overall costs and staff burden. STAMP is a computer-adaptive web-based assessment and reporting tool correlated with the ACTFL Performance Guildelines.

CLASSPAK

ClassPak is a web-based instructional tool designed for year-round use to assist teachers in creating a proficiency-oriented classroom. ClassPak provides a STAMP-like environment with realia-based content that teachers can build upon to deliver reading, writing, and speaking quizzes.

MITI

MITI stands for Medical Interpreter Test on the Internet. The MITI is an assessment of interpreting skills and knowledge of general medical terminology. This proctored test is delivered securely over the Internet.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

NJ STAMP is a specific implementation of STAMP for the State of New Jersey to assess the progress eighth graders are making in learning other languages. This innovative 3-year program funded by a federal FLAP grant provides results that serve as a baseline for the development of a statewide world languages assessment.

STARTALK is a multi-agency Federal initiative providing summer immersion programs for students and professional development for teachers of foreign languages. STAMP-technology is used for speaking assessments at STARTALK programs across the United States.

ELPA is the English Language Proficiency Assessment for the Oregon Department of Education. Avant Assessment’s technology provides savings in cost and time for the State of Oregon to deliver, score, and report the four skills AMAO-compliant, online ELP test.
