Partnership Expands Access to Language Proficiency Assessment and Professional Learning Across California

Eugene, OR — March 3, 2026 — Avant Language and the California Language Teachers’ Association (CLTA) have announced a new strategic alliance, uniting two organizations committed to advancing excellence in language teaching and learning throughout California.

The partnership reflects a shared mission: strengthening language programs through effective assessment practices and high-quality professional learning. Through this alliance, CLTA members will gain expanded access to Avant’s proficiency assessments and educator development resources, while the two organizations collaborate to support multilingual learners across the state.

“At CLTA, we are dedicated to elevating the profession and supporting language educators at every stage of their careers,” said Liz Matchett, Executive Director. “Partnering with Avant strengthens our ability to provide members with trusted tools that recognize student achievement and support instructional growth.”

As part of the agreement, CLTA members will have preferred access to Avant’s assessment and professional learning solutions, including tools that support Seal of Biliteracy attainment and educator training. The alliance also includes collaboration on conference engagement, workshops, and ongoing discussions to identify new opportunities to serve California language educators.

“This alliance is about reinforcing the power of proficiency,” said David Bong, Co-Founder and CEO of Avant Language. “By working alongside CLTA, we can better equip educators with meaningful data and pathways to recognition that open doors for students.”

Together, CLTA and Avant aim to advance equitable access to language recognition, elevate professional practice, and strengthen multilingual education throughout California.
