Student Participation Codes
“Participation Codes” allow you to track the reason a student was unable to complete the assessment or obtain a final score. “Participation Codes” will show up as the last column on any list of student.

You can change the Participation Code by clicking the drop-down menu and selecting the appropriate option. It will automatically save your choice.
If you accidentally assign a Participation Code you can remove it by selecting “None“.
How Do I Find The Participation Codes?
1. Go to Test Login page
2. Type in your Results Code and Password

3. Click on a Testing Group (or school if you are a district admin)

4. Scroll down to the “List” table. On the far right you’ll see the “Participation Code” column.

Avant Score Review Process Policy and Procedures:
Avant’s skilled raters work together with cutting-edge technology to ensure accurate ratings and maintain the highest levels of interrater reliability among its raters. For more information about this process, please read this report: Reliability and Accuracy of Ratings in the Writing and Speaking Sections of STAMP Tests.
Additionally, Avant makes the scoring rubric publicly available along with written exemplars for each proficiency level.
In order to request a score review, follow the steps below:
1. Fill out this form for each score review request.
2. Click Submit and the form will be sent to Karl Bowman, Dual Language Immersion & World Languages Specialist at the Utah State Board of Education.
3. Upon written receipt of the approved score review requests from Mr. Bowman, Avant will proceed with the score review.
4. Results of the score review will be sent to the requester at the district and Karl Bowman at the USBE, within 21 business days.
Avant cannot begin the score review process without the written approval of the USBE.
Please note:
- Avant will not complete a review unless approved by the USBE.
- Avant will only complete a review for the final score/level not individual writing or speaking responses. The final score of each skill is determined by the two highest scores from the 3 student responses.
- Test Administration Violations (TAV) scores with high rater confidence or substantiated evidence of agreement violations will NOT be reviewed. For more information about TAV scores, please review the following details: TAV Scores (found on the Benchmarks and Rubrics page)
- The findings of the review are final and cannot be challenged.
- The score review process may take up to 21 business days to complete.
A request form must be completed for each test taker that you would like Avant to review. The review process will not begin until Avant has received a completed form.
