As a mission-based organization focused on improving the learning and teaching of languages, Avant Assessment operates in a trusted relationship with our customers. A core responsibility in that relationship is ensuring that we uphold certain standards of care when it comes to our collection and use of the personal information of the test takers we support. 

Data Privacy

We maintain a Product Privacy Policy that explains our personal information collection, use, and disclosure practices, as well as your rights in relation to your personal information. Some select and at-a-glance information about our privacy practices for our education institution customers is also included below:

  1. District Ownership: We do not own the student personal information in our care. We remain under the education institution’s direct control with respect to our use and maintenance of that student personal information.
  2. Our Use of Student Personal Information: We use student personal information in our care in support of our customers’ educational purposes. We do not use student personal information for any advertising purposes, including for targeted advertising purposes. 
  3. Data Retention: We delete student personal information within 90 days of expiration or termination of the contract. At any time, an education institution customer may request to access, amend, or delete their students’ personal information, and we will comply with such requests in a timely manner.
  4. Students Under Age 13: We comply with our obligations under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). When our education institution customers choose to allow students under the age of 13 to use our products, we ask the education institution to affirm that they are authorized to consent to our collection of the necessary personal information from the students under age 13. 
  5. Data Protection: We implement and maintain a security program that includes industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to help protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the student data within our care.

This is a voluntary pledge focused on enterprise software products and services, including on-premises software, cloud services, and software as a service (SaaS). By participating in the pledge, software manufacturers are pledging to make a good-faith effort to work towards program-specific goals. In the spirit of radical transparency, the manufacturer is encouraged to publicly document their approach so that others can learn.

This is a framework for cloud computing services that ensures companies dealing with PII of Texas residents adhere to strict cybersecurity standards and risk management. Avant has obtained this certification to show our commitment to continued partnership with Texas educational agencies.

The Global Seal of Biliteracy is a uniform standard language proficiency certification. Earning a Global Seal of Biliteracy enables recipients to showcase their language skills to any school or employer across state lines and national borders, with a unique serial-numbered document. Qualifying tests are approved through a rigorous evaluation process conducted by an independent Board of Advisors composed of international experts in the fields of multilingual education, second language acquisition, educational research, and assessment.
