독서란 무엇인가요?

읽기는 기술 기반 활동으로 다음과 같은 능력이 필요합니다:

• SKIM (알려진 어휘, 일반적인 주제 및 텍스트의 서식/구성을 찾기 위해 텍스트를 빠르게 관찰)
• 스캔 (텍스트 내부의 특정 세부 정보를 찾고, 누가, 무엇을, 언제, 어디서, 왜, 어떻게 대답하고, 문맥적 단서를 사용)
• 더 깊은 이해를 위해 읽기 (텍스트의 주요 아이디어, 관점, 저자의 목적 및 직접적인 사실 이해). 일반적으로 텍스트의 70% 이상을 이해할 수 있어야 함 - "렉사일 접근 방식")
• 비판적 사고 적용 (저자의 내포된 의미를 바탕으로 행간을 읽고 추론하기)
• Reading is NOT decoding or translation. Translation is a much more complex and complicated task. Do not translate word for word, but rather, use the skills listed above to initially interact with the texts and identify all that you already know.

읽기 능력 향상을 위한 전략

• 독서는 수동적인 활동이 아닙니다. 항상 목적이나 구체적인 초점을 염두에 두고 읽어야 합니다.
• In tests like the STAMP test, read the context and the questions FIRST and then skim and scan the text to locate the answer.
• Build meaning on what you KNOW in the text and let that knowledge direct your understanding.
• 알고 있는 내용에서 의미나 답을 추측하세요. 읽을 때 추측하는 것은 괜찮습니다. 이를 "교육적 추측"이라고 부르는 이유는 텍스트에서 알고 있는 내용을 바탕으로 하고, 텍스트에서 확실하게 알지 못하는 내용에 의미를 부여하는 데 도움이 되기 때문입니다.
• Slow down and think about the context and consider the types of things that you might encounter in that context. For example, if you see a context that states, “An advertisement in a newspaper,” you should consider the types of advertisements that might be found in a newspaper. This focus will allow you to activate specific vocabulary/topics in your mind and be better prepared for the text.

경청이란 무엇인가요?

Listening is a skill-based activity that requires the ability to:

• 입력 자극(가청 소리/언어)을 듣습니다.
• 단어, 구, 문장 또는 다른 말로 '언어'의 관점에서 소리를 식별합니다.
• 말하거나 제시된 언어를 이해합니다.
• Listening is usually the strongest skill for immersion students and the weakest skill for traditional language learning students due to exposure to extended listening passages or tasks.

듣기 능력 향상을 위한 전략

• 경청하려면 집중과 주의가 필요합니다.
  
• 듣기는 단어의 경계를 구분하고 다양한 억양과 발음 요소를 다룰 수 있도록 많은 연습이 필요합니다.
  
• In tests like the STAMP test, read the context and the questions FIRST and then listen for the specific answer. You are able to listen to the audio sample two times in the test.
  
• Practice eavesdropping (listening to spoken language live or via media.) Take notes on what you do know compared to what you do not know as you ‘eavesdrop’. Select specific vocabulary to study and use in your own language or teach someone else the things you learned.
  
• 경청을 어렵게 만드는 요소는 다음과 같지만 사용자가 제어할 수 있는 요소도 있습니다:
  
  • 말의 속도 - 말할 때 속도를 늦춰 달라고 요청하면 단어의 경계에 더 집중하고 이해하는 데 도움이 될 수 있습니다.
  • Background Noise – eliminating background noises or distractions will help. If you are in a loud environment move to a more quiet location or ask for music or other sounds to be minimized.
  • Repetition – asking someone to repeat something will allow you one more opportunity to listen for specific details. However, if you ask them to repeat something more than one time, the speaker may change what they are saying to make it “easier,” when in reality it has now complicated things because they are adding new information. Also, be specific in your request and let them know that you did not understand a specific word or section rather than having them repeat the entire statement. This lets them know where the problem was for you and they can then just deliver that word or section.

(STAMP Level 2)

텍스트 유형(초급-중급) 문구:

• Work on increasing vocabulary, including verbs that cover a variety of topics that are at the Novice level. These are topics that you generally experience each day in your every-day life: self, home, friends, school, weather, clothing, food, time, pets/animals, etc.
  Try to connect different words to a verb to create thoughts and generate simple sentences where possible.

함수/구조(문법):

• 동사에 대한 어휘 연결성을 높입니다. 이렇게 하면 언어 생산에서 더 많은 의미를 창출하는 데 도움이 됩니다.

Do these things to Power Up to Novice-High
(STAMP Level 3)

텍스트 유형(초급-고급) 간단한 문장:

• 단어를 연결하여 아주 간단한 문장을 만드는 연습을 하세요.
• 보다 다양한 주제를 다루거나 작업의 여러 측면을 다루는 다양한 동사를 사용하여 간단한 의미를 만드는 데 집중하세요.
• 자신의 언어를 사용하여 간단한 문장을 다시 만들고 재구성해 보세요.

함수/구조(문법):

• Know what it means to create a simple sentence. (What is a subject? What is a verb? What is an object? Learn these terms and know why these terms are important.)

Do these things to Power Up to Intermediate-Low (STAMP Level 4)

텍스트 유형(중간-낮음) 문장의 문자열:

• 각 문장에 추가하는 언어의 양을 늘려서 의미의 깊이를 더하고 문장을 연결하기 시작하세요.
• Expand vocabulary beyond every-day life to topics such as travel, occupations, health, shopping, local community etc…

함수/구조(문법):

• Understand what constitutes Added Detail (details that add depth and clarity to the language: prepositional phrases, descriptive words, basic use of helping verbs, adverbs and more specific vocabulary… yes, learning these terms is important.)

기타:

• 다양한 형태의 추가 설명이 어떻게 더 큰 그림을 그리는 데 도움이 되는지 이해하세요. 문장 구조도 다양하게 표현해 보세요.
• 실수하는 것을 두려워하지 마세요! 글쓰기와 말하기에서 더 자세한 표현을 하기 위해 가능한 모든 언어를 사용하세요.

Do these things to Power Up to Intermediate-Mid (STAMP Level 5)

Text Type (Intermediate-Mid) Connected Sentences basic:

• 프롬프트의 다양한 측면을 다루기 위해 사용하는 언어의 양을 늘립니다. 연결성을 높이는 데 도움이 되는 아이디어 그룹을 만들기 위해 노력하세요.
• 덜 일반적인 주제로 확장되고 확장된 어휘의 사용을 계속 늘리세요.

함수/구조(문법):

• 다양한 형태의 추가 세부 정보를 사용하여 문장을 더욱 명확하고 풍부하게 만들 수 있도록 노력하세요.
• Try to add elements of complexity to your sentence structures. There are many ways you can add complexity! Consider how you can create longer sentences using some complex structures. Increase your use of dependent and independent clauses – not just compound sentences using ‘and’, ‘but’ or ‘because’. Be careful to not create run-on sentences. Use complexity to add depth of meaning. Use of other tense forms that are beyond the simple ‘present tense’. It is expected that these new skills will be presented with errors – don’t worry about the errors, just do your best.

• 매일 새로운 어휘를 자신 있는 단어와 섞어서 말하거나 쓰는 연습을 하세요. 새로운 어휘를 더 많이 사용할수록 더 자연스러워질 것입니다.
• 실수하는 것을 두려워하지 마세요! (예, 이것은 끊임없이 상기시켜주는 말입니다. 오류는 여러분이 이 수준에서 새로운 것을 시도하고 있다는 것을 보여줍니다.)

(STAMP Level 6)

텍스트 유형(중급-고급) 연결 문장:

• 어휘의 폭과 다양성을 높이기 위해 계속 노력하세요.
• Increase use of complex structures in your response including, but not limited to dependent clauses. There are a variety of ways to create complexity.
• 글과 말하기 답변 전반에 걸쳐 연결 고리를 만드는 데 집중하세요. 이렇게 하면 시작, 중간, 끝으로 이어지는 자연스러운 흐름이 만들어지고 아이디어를 하나로 모을 수 있습니다.
• 글을 쓰거나 말하는 상황에 대한 명확한 그림을 그릴 수 있도록 가능한 한 많은 세부 사항과 설명적인 언어를 포함하도록 노력하세요.
• 다양한 과도기적 단어와 구를 사용하고 이러한 용어를 늘려 생각과 아이디어를 연결하고 연결하는 데 도움이 되도록 노력하세요.

함수/구조(문법):

• 더 다양한 문장 길이와 유형을 사용하세요.
• 더 많은 전환 단어와 문구를 사용하여 응답 전반에 걸쳐 연결성을 높일 수 있습니다.
• Increase your ability to use a variety of verb tenses accurately. Be aware of the language that is created as you use different tenses – recognize the strength of language when you are able to switch from one time frame to the next with increased accuracy.

기타:

• 목표 언어로 소설을 큰 소리로 읽어 보세요. 낯선 단어/문장을 어휘 메모장에 기록하고 일주일 내내 사용하려고 노력하세요.
• 새로운 구조에서 오류가 발생하는 것을 두려워하지 마세요. 그러나 이 수준에서는 대부분의 기본 시간 프레임에서 오류가 줄어들기 시작할 것입니다. 말하기 전에 머릿속으로 많이 번역할 필요가 없다는 것을 알게 될 것입니다.

Do these things to Power Up to Advanced-Low
(STAMP Level 7)

Text Type (Advanced-Low) Paragraph Structure basic:

• 평소 정규 수업에서 배우지 않는 주제에서 어휘를 배우려고 노력하세요. 뉴스와 기타 시사 뉴스를 읽고 듣거나 원어민의 말을 들으면서 어휘의 폭을 넓혀 보세요.
• 시작, 중간, 끝이 있는 일관성 있고 통일된 언어를 만들기 위해 노력하세요. 이 수준에 도달하려면 생각과 아이디어를 명확하게 정리하는 것이 중요합니다.
• 관용어와 구어체를 배우고 사용하세요. 이렇게 하면 말과 글을 더욱 자연스럽고 진정성 있게 표현하는 데 도움이 됩니다.

함수/구조(문법):

• Strive to incorporate more complex language. This includes a wider variety of verb conjugations / time frames as well as less frequently used transition words / phrases.
• Accuracy in functions/structures is important at this level. Pay close attention to those areas where you are not confident nor sure about correct usage. At this level, use of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, accents, tonal markers, umlauts, etc. (all language specific features) increase in importance – especially if your desire is to reach Advanced levels where accurate work and/or academic language is expected.

기타:

• 매일 최대한 많은 원어민과 소통하세요. 이를 위해 다양한 기술 리소스를 활용할 수 있습니다. 새로운 어휘를 들으면 메모해 두었다가 일상 대화에서 그 언어를 사용해 보세요.
• Listen to music or watch movies in the target language each day. Repeat along with the singer – or actor. This will allow you to practice speaking more quickly – as well as help you acquire cultural perspectives and learn new vocabulary in fun and engaging ways.
• 배운 내용을 친구나 친척에게 가르치세요. 이것은 새로운 콘텐츠와 개념을 처리하고 기억하는 좋은 방법입니다.
